So this means that I, with fourteen years service at the Museum, get 41
weekdays off - just over eight weeks in total.
Jackie
Well, here in the states it isn't quite that oeachy but it aint bad.
for guv'mint workers anyway. We have 11 days off for holiday. then
there is your leave. in your first three years you earn 4 hours annual
andf four hours sick per pay period, Sothat's 13 days of each per
year. after 3 years the annual goes up to six, and after eight years (
think) it goes up to eight.
so that makes a total of fifty days maximum possible leave if you
include sick days.
37 if you don't
As a us gov't employee you can roll over up to 240 hours accrued
annual leave form year to year with no loss. anything above 240 hours
get thron away at the end of the year. supervisors are instructed to
only deny leave toward the end of the year if there are really
mitigating crcumstances since the gov't cna be forced to credit you
the leave if you make a good faith effort to schedule the leave.
so I guess it ain't too bad over here. private enterprise in general
here in the states usually takes a much more conservattive approach to
employee leave, hence the "family leave act" that allowed employess to
take sick leave when their kids were sick or had to go to the doctor.
tis the price to pay for living in this "free market" economy.
