Orvus is a  non-ionic soap, which basically translates to it doesn't
leave residue on the textile if rinsed properly.  You can get it from
most conservation supply houses or in tack shops.  The key is to use a
TINY little bit.  But before wet-cleaning ANYTHING, you need to make
sure the piece is strong enough to undergo the process and that the
colors in it won't bleed.  Best to check with a conservator first before
proceeding with any wet-cleaning!
