As a recent intern I thought I'd add my 2 cents and throw out what I was paid.
I had a six month internship w/ a small county museum, working approximately
35 hours / week (sometimes more, which was compensated at an hourly rate). I
was paid approximately $1000 / month ($6.59 / hr. + travel expenses as it was
about an hour away from where I lived and attended grad school.) This is just
an example of how some places are compensating interns. :)
