Thomas
Tim Caulton (formerly of Sheffield University, now Development Director at
the Magna Centre, Rotherham) has developed some useful performance
indicators in his book "Hands-on Exhibitions: Managing Interactive Museums
and Science Centres". Although these are primarily aimed at Hands-on
centres, they can be applied to other museums and visitor attractions. The
book is published by Routledge, and has the ISBN 0-415-16522-9.
Alternatively, Tim wrote an article on performance measures in the British
Interactive Group Newsletter last year. You can read the article at

Regards
Andy
