The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies, a mid-career training facility for historic preservation, collections care and conservation professionals, is seeking creative, self-motivated applicants for the position of Director. The Center, a non-profit facility established in 1980 and one of the few organizations devoted to mid-career training, is located on the National Register-listed, former Shimer College Campus in picturesque Northwestern Illinois.
Historic Preservation courses cover the care and maintenance of historic structures and building fabric. Collections Care courses include the well-respected Historic Collections, Archaeological & Ethnographic Collections, and Natural Science Collections Core Curricula. Conservation Refresher courses cover a variety of materials and techniques. All classes are taught by practicing professionals.
The Director's duties include: hands-on oversight of daily activities, grant writing, fund raising, membership development, curriculum and program development, scholarship administration, oversight of maintenance of all grounds and buildings, equipment purchase, public relations and general promotion, supervision of part-time staff of six.
Detailed knowledge of conservation, collections management, or historic preservation preferred. BA required, MA in Business Administration, Historic Preservation or related field preferred. Minimum 5 year progressive administrative experience required. Reports to Board of Directors.
