It's unfortunate the employer has found some reason to screen the museum
staff for drugs. But this new policy is more than likely legal. The
employer is exercising its right to impose zero tolerance for drug use among
its staff, and anyone is free to abstain or resign. There are employers (no
museums, of which I am aware) which also test employees for use of tobacco
(but not alcohol!) I don't agree with these measures, but they do help
keep the cost of health insurance premiums lower, reduce the use of sick
leave, and improve employee performance (they say).
