I am interested in information regarding collection policies and security
policies for collections on exhibit and in storage. My question regarding
collection policies is specifically targeted to donations and acquistions
of prehistoric North American artifacts and how you handle these with
regard to NAGPRA. Also, how do you handle items with questionable origin
and what documentation on the object(s) do you require of a donor?
This is a small museum with limited staff and no dedicated security people,
I am interested in what other small museums do for security. Do you have a
written security plan, and if so, what does it contain? How do you handle
museum security, collection protection, and visitors?
Please reply on or off list as you want. I can prepare a summary of
responses for the list if anyone is interested.
Thanks in advance,
Gail Colby
