I wonder, how did the masters of visual art attain their fame? When I
hear of a Van Gogh selling for millions, or of how Picasso even in his
own lifetime came to be revered, I ask myself: what did they do to gain
such unanimous admiration? Was it purely their work? Was it a social
connection of some sort? Was their climb to fame gradual or markedly
steep? The answers to these questions should be apparent to any one with
training in art history. What is your opinion?
