The Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, is seeking an
Electronic Technician. This positions reports to the Supervisor of
Technical Services in the production area of the Education and Technology
Department.
Duties include repairing and maintaining video projectors and other
audio-visual equipment, the StarRider projector and associated systems,
the Digistar 2 system, and the electronic systems in the Zeiss Theater,
and the Zeiss electrical Room, including the Zeiss projector itself.
Other duties are designing and constructing custom electronic systems for
the theaters, such as special effects, performing selected Zeiss or
StarRider shows, supporting special and private events, and acting as the
technician on duty for each event.
Education required is a college degree or technical degree in electronics.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience repairing, maintaining, and
designing electronic systems and audio-visual equipment. Actual
experience maintaining and repairing video projectors, repair of computer
systems, and familiarity with computer networks, as well as computer
programming experience, is preferred.
The beginning salary for this position is $28,753.
