Wilcomb E. Washburn wrote an article ("Collecting Information, Not
Objects"0 for *Museum News*, February 1984, wherein he computed the cost
of storing an object at $50 per square foot. This computation was based
on a building providing 100,000 square feet of museum space & costing
$125/sq. ft. The article is 14 years old, but you could probably allow
for inflation & proceed from there.
