As one who has had to respond to many an alarm call at the museum at 3 in
the morning, or who felt guilty when I took a job at another museum for
fear that "my collection" will somehow suffer in my absence, or who goes in
to work when I'm on holidays "just to check on the place", or who feels
that the small institution I worked in "really needed me", then yeah, I'm
one of those people who would only be happy working in a museum. Am I
alone? I don't think we'd be having this discussion if I were.

Not to make light of those people who are struggling financially (I am,
too), but I'd much rather have a job where I didn't hate the thought of
going to every morning than to have tons of money.

My current view - it's not worth it unless you would only be happy working
in a museum.
