The Archives of Molex Incorporated, a Lisle, IL based connector
manufacturer which designs and manufactures a broad line of electrical,
electronic, and fiber optic connectors, flat cables, switches, and
associated application tooling, is looking to donate a UL testing device.
This machine was built to test Molex connectors for Underwriters
Laboratories' specifications, circa 1967-1975. Built piecemeal by
Molex, this device is a functioning example of "progress" and
development in science and technology.
The Underwriters Laboratories was developed as a way to self-regulate
and standardize the electric and electronics industry. These
standards were a fundamental part of the process to establish new
technology and advance science safely. A hallmark of a successful
electric or electronic component was and continues to be UL tested
and approved.
The device consists of two pieces: one is 125 cm h. x 60 cm w. and
the second piece is 100 cm. h x 125 cm. w.
