The Upper Midwest Conservation Association is posting this
at the request of Ann Sligar, Watkins Woolen Mill:
The Association for Living History, Farm and Agricultural
Museums 1999 Annual Conference will be held at Rockhurst
College, Kansas City, MO, June 13-17. The theme is "Across
the Wide Missouri: Crossroads and Cultures." Subjects
encompass French Colonial to mid-20th century history,
westward trails, Jesse James, jazz, and migrants East and
West. Events include a wide range of activities geared to
Open Air and house museum staff and interpreters: scholarly
talks, workshops, hands-on activities, and various day trips
to historic locations. An evening at the 1856 Arabia
Steamboat museum is planned. Registration begins in March.
The five-day fee of $285 includes most meals and activities;
double occupancy dorm rooms are $20.00 per night. For more
