It may be useful to note that AAM stands for "American Association of
Museums."  "Museum professional," "museum worker," and other such
phrases are not in their title (nor, it sometimes seems, in their
vocabulary).  At least one recent President was asked point-blank
whether he saw AAM as an organization of institutions, or an
organization of people who work in these institutions, and he came down
firmly on the side of "an organization of institutions."
