Muse9.org is a new website devoted to serving the needs of museum
professionals in the next millennium. Founded by museum staffers
dissatisfied with the state of our profession's literature, Muse9.org is
actively seeking submissions and proposals from other museum professionals,
graduate students in allied programs, and others interested in writing
about the future of museums. Muse9.org, set to launch this winter, will
publish intelligent, contemporary, relevant articles of general interest to
the profession. Feel free to PASS THIS MESSAGE on to friends and associates
who might be interested in writing for Muse9.org.
Muse9.org is all about:
o rethinking best practice
o pragmatic solutions
o the next generation of museum leaders
o critical examination of the status quo
o technology and competition
o intelligent commentary
Muse9.org is NOT about
o museums patting themselves on the back
o dilettantes
o complaints about government funding
o dusty exhibits
o pie-in-the-sky treatises
o the museums your parents remember
In addition to exclusive articles, Muse9.org will provide a wide array of
services:
o free to post, free to read listings of available museum positions across
the U.S.
o museumWIRE, with current news and links to articles of interest
o reviews of interesting exhibitions and new books
o a full-service online museum bookstore, in partnership with amazon.com
o information on museum studies programs and internships
o listings of symposia, educational opportunities, and events
o useful, vetted links to museum information and resources
o advertisements and links from leading museum specialty vendors
