A good starting point for looking at any place in England is the
apropriate 'Victoria County History' - some are quite out of date (the
series was, after all, begun in Queen Victoria's reign) - and have no
idea whether Somerset (the relevant county) is old, new, or even not
begun yet.
Try getting to the Somerset County Council web site, and finding the
County Record Office - they will be able to tell you if there is a
VCH, and may be able to offer other advice
