To provide national recognition for museums that are central to the life of
their communities, the Institute of Museum and Library Service (IMLS) is
accepting nominations for its National Award for Museum Service.
In the most recent competition, IMLS made this award to three institutions:
the Belknap Mill Society in Laconia, New Hampshire; the Henry Ford Museum &
Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan; and the New Jersey Historical
Society in Newark, New Jersey. First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton honored
the museums with an awards presentation at the White House in November.
Please consider nominating a museum in your area. Nominations will be
accepted until February 19, 1999. For nomination forms and additional
information access the IMLS website at http://www.imls.fed.us, or contact
Linda Bell, Director of Policy, Planning and Budget, Institute for Museum
and Library Services, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20506,
(202) 606-8536.
