Subject: Re: Your TOP EVENT / DECISION that shaped the 20th Century
Though the invention of electricity predates the 20th century, widespread
distribution does not. Day to day, minute to minute, electricity creates
the 20th Century lifestyle, from 24 hour light ( and 24 hour work day?), to
global media, to skyscrapers, etc.
However, this is still most likely not a valid response as it is not a
single event.

I would argue for Rural Electrification. This single event changed rural
life significantly and allowed an easier life with more free time than
almost any development in the 20 th Century.
