This is all set out in the "welcome" message when you joined - and
which members are specifically asked to save, as well as in John Chapman's
regularly updated and re-distributed "FAQ" file.

However...

The procedure is exactly the same for leaving any of the 17,000+ listserv
discussion groups: just send an e-mail to any listserv server (e.g.
[log in to unmask]) completely blank (no "subject" or signature)
except for the one line message in the main text:

        UNSUBSCRIBE  <your e-mail address>

(Don't give your name after the email address; the server software will
find that from the registered email address anyway and adding your name
to the message may create an error message.)

The listserv software should remove you from the list within a few
minutes, and send you an email confirming your deletion.

In the case of lists using other list software - e.g. majordomo or
listproc - the principles are the same though the procedures are slightly
different: look them up in each case.

The most frequent cause of unsubscribe failures are (1) sending the
message to the List address rather than a listserv and (2) failing to
delete standard mail headers and footers etc. or inserting "subject"
headers so that the automatic software cannot identify the nature of the
message.
