The M-16 is a Class III firearm (fully automatic selective fire)- your
government will make it impossible to display one without disabling it
completely. You may find a Class III collector or dealer willing to deal
with all the paperwork.
Your alternative is a commercial Colt AR-15. Superficially it looks like
the M-16 but is not selective fire.
Contact your local firearms dealers- they might let you borrow one.
Failing that, look in the newspapers for one on sale; under $800
depending on the configuration.
