Dear Katherine,
Concerning your request for assistance in contracting with home school
groups. I have worked with organizations who have been successful in
contracting with home schoolers using the same contract and procedures used
for private and public schools. In one instance I found that homeschoolers
were a high percentage of the institution's family membership base because
they perceived the institution as a place for continued learning for their
children.
You can also reach home schoolers and gain insight into their needs through
a number of sources :
Blue Stocking Press 916-612-1123 has a resource book that includes state and
local home school organizations. This might help you target your state or
region.
Home School Magazine (817-540-6423) will talk with you about publicizing
your programs.
American Homeschool Association ([log in to unmask]) offers an online
newsletter that reaches a large number of home schoolers throughout the U.S.
You might also consider hosting or coordinating a special workshop or
conference with homeschool parents to discuss how your institution could
assist them with science and technology education.
