The Whatcom Museum of History and Art in Bellingham, Washington, is
     beggining plans for a traveling exhibition to celebrate the centennial
     of the Teddy Bear. As many of you know, the Teddy Bear was invented
     simultaneously in the United States and Germany in 1902.

     Initial plans for the exhibition include:

     -1,500 sq ft or more

     -The history of the inventors and related material

     -Many examples of Teddy Bears from 1902 up to the present including
     artist-made bears

     -Bears in literature, folklore, and film

     -Pre 1902 bear toys

     I am interested in hearing from those of you who 1) might be
     interested in having the exhibition come to your museum, or 2) feel
     that your museum might wish to be a contributor through loans of
     objects, etc.

     The exhibition will open around November of 2001, and tour for a
     couple of years.  Fees, etc. to be determined.
