Job description for: Art in Bloom Intern
Pay range: Non-paying position
Hours: Flexible, 8-10 hours per week
Starts: January 1999 Ends: June 1999
Description: This is an opportunity to be part of the largest fundraising event at a large non-profit organization, The Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This internship will provide a window of opportunity to learn about non-profit administration and development. Work with interesting people in a museum environment on a large project. Art in Bloom is an annual event produced by the Friends of the Institute that showcases floral interpretations of artwork. The event covers three days and involves lectures, demonstrations, teas, luncheons, tours, and a garden shop, to name just a few. As an intern, you will be involved in office/clerical work, planning, and troubleshooting for this event. Many of your co-workers will also be professional volunteers.
Job Requirements
· Computer proficiency. Microsoft applications preferred, and Access experience a definite plus.
· Excellent telephone skills and good communication skills in general.
· Problem-solving skills.
· Some lifting required (up to 30 pounds).
Job Responsibilities
· Project management and related problem solving.
· Assist and serve as a back up to the Friends Office Coordinator.
· Answer phones and provide office assistance.
· Assist with preparation for meetings, lectures, events, etc., in connection with Art in Bloom, a major fundraising event for The Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
· Use office machinery, such as copier, fax, and laminating machines.
