I am posting this for the MIT Museum.  Please respond to Jane Pickering as
listed below.

Temporary Registrar and Collections Manager : MIT Museum

The MIT Museum is looking for a freelance registrar to support the Museum
for 3-6 months whilst the search for a permanent person proceeds. To start
as soon as possible. The Museum holds architectural, historical
(photographs & archives), holographic, maritime and science and technology
collections. The Registrar & Collections Manager is responsible for the
general management of the Museum's collections and collections records,
including collections management planning and the development and
implementation of related policies and procedures. Also to implement and
manage collections information systems and cataloging of collections, and
to maintain collections documentation. Ensures currency of procedures and
forms and adherence to museum standards and trains the three collections
staff in procedures. Responsible for maintenance and security of Museum's
records. Co-ordinates insurance coverage. Implements and manages the
computerization of collections management and cataloguing systems.
Maintains the Museum's home pages. Administers the Museum Collections
Committee. Maintains an emergency preparedness plan for collections.
Candidates should have a master's degree in museum studies, or related
field, and at least three years of directly related experience are
required.  Must be knowledgeable about standards in museum and archival
collections management and possess substantial experience with a wide range
of computer systems and software. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
Should be well organized, detail orientated and show initiative.
