At the Gomez Mill House we have a meadow along a stream in front of the 1714
manor house. On the stream - creek - is a mill built by Dard Hunter, famous
papermaker, in the shape of a 17th century Devonshire cottage, complete with
thatched roof. Whole site very pretty and picturesque. We had classes of
artists coming to sketch and paint. Meeting the artists we now schedule art
exhibits. One suggestion, maybe later this year, is to have these artists
paint Saturday and Sunday and then auction the pictures on Sunday evening.
Anyway, we meet new friends this way.
Oh, school groups really think it is neat to see the artists painting and
enjoy taking a break between the Mill and the House tour to watch for a
minute or two.
