Fellow list members,
I was asked to submit a salary proposal for a position with a
small historical society. They want me to put me in a newly created
position- Collections Manager..or something like that. I will be
responsible for organizing a collection that is totally without order.
This will cover both objects and archives. It is a considerable amount of
work and they plan on finding grants money for at least two years.
I will graduate with a Master's in Archives, Museum and Editing
Studies. I have a year's experience as an archivist and considerable
internship experience in the musuem field. The historical society is in a
small community outside Pittsburgh, and as I said, the position will
(hopefully) be grant funded.
I don't have any idea about a salary range to give them, and I
would appreciate some professional input. I sent a similar posting to the
archives listserv and received a few responses. I think my argument is
stronger with professional backing, so I want to do enough research to
validate my proposal.
Please reply off list unless others are interested. I thank all
who reply in advance.
