Thank you all for your input both on-list and off.
In order to start this web site moving, I am now soliciting reviews of
museum exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, in all kinds of museums.
Here are some general guidelines, some of which are flexible and some not.
1) Under 1,000 words (flexible)
2) Must be written by someone not professionally affiliated with the museum
(and that goes for board members and consultants, spouses, children, and
pets.) We don't want press releases. (inflexible)
3) I will be the editor of the site (inflexible for now, but will modify as
we go along), and will have final say about what goes on the site.
4) I will reserve the right to edit, but try to keep it to a minimum.
5) The writer retains all rights to the review
The review must include the following information:
Name of Exhibition
Originator of Exhibition
Venue for Exhibition
Approximate Square Footage
Name of Author
Professional Affiliation of Author
This is all in addition to the 1000 word maximum.
The review must be submitted in ASCII with no formatting.
We encourage submissions from both professionals and nonprofessionals. I
would particularly encourage students to take this opportunity to air their
thinking about exhibitions of all stripes.
As soon as I get a critical mass of a dozen or so reviews, I will set up the
site. I don't really want to get the site running until there is something
to look at...So, keep those cards and letters coming!
