Marsha,

If the Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP) is active in your area,
that's one source of insurance for those volunteers who are 55 or older.
Other than that, you might check with your state's department of labor to
see if you can obtain coverage by paying the local version of worker's
compensation fees.  In some jurisdictions, this provides insurance for
volunteers.
