Dear Jeffrey:
I don't think an "off-the-shelf" piece of software for a visitor's tour
in the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts would be very useful to the visitor
or to your museum - if it did exist.
I have seen computerized "touch screen" visitor tour operations in a
number of museums, but they all seem to have been designed specifically
for that museum. In one application, visitors were asked various
questions about where they live, how long they were in town, etc., what
their areas of interest were in this museum and how long they had to
spend in the museum. The computer then generated a specific tour of
that museum for them - and also generated demographics on this museum's
visitor base.
Kind Regards
Roger Wulff
