As a person with a master's degree in architecture, I am also puzzled by
this oversight. Usually the number of toilets is governed by building
codes, which are dictated by the number of users of the building. While
there is some controversy as to the parity between men's facilities and
women's facilities, there should have been an appropriate number of
total toilets for the entire museum. There also should have been a
governmental board that approved the plans, and managed the compliance
with these codes. Maybe the appropriate question is, how many people is
this facility designed to hold? And are they far exceeding this number
in order to accomodate the public demand?
