I'm looking for information on powerlooms. This comes after being asked to
look at a garage full of powerlooms and related industrial weaving
equipment which was purchased in the 1950s when the equipment in a local
factory was updated. The looms were used principally to manufacture
upholstery fabric.
The cast iron looms are each about 10 feet wide, by 5 feet deep and 6 feet
high. I searched for foundry marks, brass plates, etc and came up with the
following:
- a patent date of November 27, 1877 on each loom
- the name "The Stafford Company, Readville, Massachusetts" on the
jacquard attachments
- the name "FA Lazenby & Co., Baltimore, MD", "Model T Jr" on a bobbin winder
I'd appreciate leads on printed resources, trade catalogues and collections
related to industrial weaving equipment, especially looms. Please respond
directly to [log in to unmask]
Thanks.
