When I was last at the Louvre, they had laminated sheets available in many
of the galleries that gave information on all the objects in a given room.
They were colorful, too big to steal easily and provided just enough detail
that they were worth looking at in addition to the object labels.  They
also offered them in several languages if I recall correctly.
