The University of Victoria has a very good Cultural Resource Conservation
Programme that is available, in part, as a distance learning programme.
Their core courses have been available long-distance for years, and they
have more recently been making courses available via the internet. The
programme leads to a post-graduate diploma, rather than a degree, but I
know I've been happy with it!

Subject: Distance Education?

Hi, Does anyone have information about or opinions of the relative merits
of Distance Education programs in Museum Studies? I have worked in a small
museum for 9 years and am thinking of going back for a second MA (my first
was in American history) but cannot relocate. There are no Museum Studies
programs in the Chicago area (although Loyola does have a Public History
program which I am considering) so I am exploring other options. Distance
Education seems an ideal solution since I work full-time. I have sent for
info from: University of Oklahoma and Leicester University in England
(talk
about distance!) but am having trouble finding other degree-granting
programs (or anyone whose had experience with them). Any ideas?
Please feel free to reply off-list.
Thanks,
Peggy Glowacki
