Title: Exhibit Designer

Essential Functions: Responsible for all phases of design work in
temporary and permanent galleries. Reports to Curator. Works closely
with the director and curator, in exhibition design planning issues, also
works closely with the registrar in gallery maintenance schedule. Duties
include drafting, model-making, exhibit installation, gallery
maintenance, mountmaking, requesting bids for construction and graphics
work and simple photography. Assist with maintenance of exhibition
furniture storage and perform exhibit photo research when needed. Assist
in supervising hired on-call help. Interacts with other departments when
exhibit/special projects assistance is needed.
Requisite Experience & Skills: M.A. in Exhibition Design, at least 2
years experience working in a museum environment. Must be able to lift
50 lbs, push movable walls, and use carpentry and paint tools. Able to
use QuarkExpress 3.31 for the PC, and wordprocessing programs such as
Corel WordPerfect 6.1 and HP DeskScan programs. Knowledge in using
graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop and Freehand Illustrator and CAD
programs highly desirable.
Salary: Begins at mid-twenties/negotiable based on past experience.
