The movable cultural heritage (and guests) at our historic site consist of
the following:
- archaeological material (archaefacts, I call them)
- artefacts (in the sense of furniture, plates, documents etc)
- building remnants (including original wallpaper and garden fencing)
- material used for display with no providence to the site whatsoever (some
- reproductions but others are valuable antiques etc in their own right)
There are two "collections" to encompass the above at present. We think
there are practical reasons for sub-categories of material but know the
present two are inadequate and that an umbrella policy that spells out the
best sub-groups and how they communicate with each other is overdue. I
would like to hear from anyone who has dealt with trying to produce
something similar. Replies on or off-list most welcome.
Thanks,
Jennifer Nuske
