Dear Stan,
An old, out-of-print but still highly useful source is Carl Guthe's
book, "The Management of Small History Museums." I hope that I won't
seem presumptious to offer my own view, but I believe that if you have a
good set of core documents that are interrelated, you are a long way
toward having a good management system. By core documents I mean
Bylaws, Collection Management Policy, Long Range Plan, Annual Audit and
so forth. Best wishes and thanks for doing the kind of work that keeps
museums moving forward.
Regards,
Chuck Watkins
