FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
Stonewall Jackson Foundation and Washington and Lee University announce
the Edmund M. Snyder 1998 graduate fellowships for summer work study in
American History, American Studies, Museum Studies or Material Culture
at Stonewall Jackson House, Lexington, Virginia. Candidates must be
enrolled in M.A. or Ph.D. program and must have completed at least two
semesters of course work. Stipend $3,600.00. Deadline March 1, 1998. For

Stonewall Jackson House is the only home that the famous Confederate
General ever owned. Restored in 1979 by Historic Lexington Foundation,
the house is furnished with period pieces, including many of Jackson’s
personal possessions. The house, which is listed on the National
Register of Historic Sites, is open to the public daily for guided
tours.
In addition to tours and exhibits, the Stonewall Jackson House sponsors
a variety of educational programs through the Garland Gray Research
Center and Library, located in the office level of the museum.
Educational activities include in-school programs, internships,
lectures, workshops, and scholarly symposia.
