We ask the donor to contribute to an endowment appropriate for supporting
the donation or something they are interested in (e.g., a donation of
mmammal specimens & support for field research in mammalogy).  If
possible, we try to match the dollar amount to the donation with the
appraised value of the object donation-not always possible (e.g., natural
history specimens-although this is changing!)
