JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
New York Hall of Science
Writer/Researcher -- Development Office
The Writer/Researcher is responsible for writing proposals to government
agencies
and private foundations; researching potential donors and grant programs;
contact
with program officers; other support functions in the Development Office. The
Writer/Researcher reports to the Director of Planning and Program Development.
Responsibilities - Under the direction of the Director of Planning and Program
Development:
1. Write program and general proposals to government, foundations,
corporations, and individuals.
2. Research new public and private grant programs
3. Research, document, and record contacts among Board, Council and other
friends
4. Work with program staff to develop proposals
5. Represent the Hall to outside agencies and funders
6. Correspondence and record-keeping related to the above tasks
7. Manage volunteer intern program in development office
8. Other duties as required by the Director of Planning and Program
Development
Qualifications: The Writer/Researcher must have excellent communication
skills,
both written and verbal. S/He must be able detail-oriented, with good
organizational
and follow-up skills. The ability to initiate projects and meet deadlines
is also
essential.
Education: A Bachelors degree is required, Masters and/or experience
preferred.
Salary: High 20's - low 30's.
