Institute for Learning Innovation*
Professional Development Seminar
"Negotiated Agendas: How Families Experience
the Museum"
Theano Moussouri, Ph.D., explores the family museum experience from the
point of view of family members. When families visit museums, they bring
with them their own agendas which are negotiated between family members.
Analyzing the components and the development of the family agenda,
illuminates the
frameworks through which families perceive their museum visit.
The seminar discussion is based on Theano's doctoral thesis carried out
in hands-on museums in the UK. Theano has recently presented papers on
"Family Agendas-Family Learning" at the VSA Conference in Colorado
and "Family Learning in Museums" at the Research Seminar, University of
Leicester, UK. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow
at the Institute for Learning Innovation
