Hi Virginia,

Lots of choice out there for this type of software. The NSM uses "Microbiz" at The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Museum of Natural History and Sherbrooke village. Microbiz was purchased from Electro Maintenance in Burnside.

NS Tourism installed "Vigilant" in their retail operations in 1996. This system was purchased from Century Computer in Halifax. tel: 423-2500

Other stuff out there. I know that the Feds have installed "Cash box" at Canex outlets. Try giving Gary Robinson a call at 488-3958.

You will be overwhelmed with what is available. My advice: start with a clean piece of paper and determine exactly what you're needs are: e.g. do you need both accounting and inventory control. How many types of currency and tenders do you need. How many SKUs are in your inventory. How is your inventory set up, by department and class, vendor or what. Are you doing enough business to justify the expense. How many stations do you need. Do you want the system to generate DPOs.

The more you define your real need, the easier your shopping will be.
Have fun,

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia again... First, many thanks to those who wrote
in response to our questions about programs and exhibtions for visualy impaired
visitors.
Your answers were very helpful.
Now a new question. WE are currently in a building expansion program and
updating many of our systems as part of the project. Our
Art Sales and Rental Gallery is looking for a computer program that can handle
their point of sales, inventory, consignment, accounting.
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Virginia Stephen
