There may be a correspondence with the American Library
Association--institution vs library professional. ALA doesn't certify
individuals, they certify educational programs that grant masters in
library/information science. Does AAM involve itself with
accrediting/reviewing/approving programs in academia that grant degrees in
museum studies?
The alternative, of individual professional certification, is used by the
Society of American Archivists, (I think).
I find this an interesting conversation. Are museum libraries/librarians
included?
