And exactly how do you propose that New York artists who have not yet been
accepted by a New York gallery, or can't afford the upfront money they want,
market their art? It's OK to require permits and such, but there should be
permits available, and in this case, there aren't. And, by the way, I'm not
someone who sells my art on the streets; I just know what street artists, both
musicians and painters, add to a city in making it a desirable tourist
attraction and place to live. New York is not the T-shirt capital of the
country, and you wouldn't find me supporting the right to sell T-shirts
outside the Met (though they do, there are apparently permits available for
that), but when it comes to art and artists, they contribute to New York in so
many ways I wish I could take the time to list them all.
