On Wednesday evening, October 15, MCN '97 conference attendees are invited
to attend and participate in the discussion generated by presentations made
at an open forum which will address data standards initiatives and
projects. Howard Besser, University of California, Berkeley, will moderate
the panel composed of the following individuals representing various
projects:
Tony Gill, Surrey Institute of Art & Design, representing the Dublin Core
John Perkins, representing the Computer Interchange of Museum Iinformation
(CIMI)
Katharine Martinez, Research Libraries Group representing REACH
Elisa Lanzi, Lanzi/Warren Associates representing VRA Data Standard
Daniel Pitti, University of Virginia representing EAD
This open forum is sponsored by the Getty Information Institute and so is
free to conference attendees. Thank you, GII! However, to facilitate
planning, we need to know how many will attend. If you have already
registered for the conference but did not indicate on the registration form
that you plan to attend, please email Michele Devine at the MCN offices
([log in to unmask]) indicating your intentions.
If you have not registered for the conference yet, but plan to do so,
please register today! On-site registrations are subject to a 15%
surcharge (member conference registration is $325 now; on-site at the
conference the cost will increase to $373.75). Isn't a little pre-planning
worth about $50?
Check out the MCN website at http://www.mcn.edu for full conference details
and registration form. If you have any questions please contact me offlist
at [log in to unmask] Hope to see you in St. Louis.
