Many thanks to all who have helped me in the past with information about
their museums and pointed to me to Web site examples of queries I have
made.
I am interested in the use of spaces on Web sites for Special Interest
Group or for developing special skills. I realise that SIG is sometimes
a bit difficult to define. Where does this diverge from the general
audience? I notice the National Museum of American Art has a good
program on learning the basics of ceramics. I guess this would count as
an SIG. The Franklin has tips on buying a telescope or how to view a
comet. There are also programs on such topics as 'Dissecting a cow's
eye' although these I class as Education.
I imagine as Web sites develop and since the space is unlimited we will
see more specialised programs developing.
Would anyone like to comment on the above? Has anyone a good example of
a Special Interest program or learning skill?
When I finish my paper which won't be too long now, I will put it on my
Web site for all who are interested.
Look forward to comments
