I must express ignorance of how Australian garb of that period differed
from US or European but there is a great pattern source I'm going to
recommend.  They have a vast array of historic patterns, US, European
and a host of other areas.  I called them this morning and they're
airmailing you info on their catalog of patterns (I hope your address
will get it to you.)  The woman with whom I spoke said they already have
lots of customers in Australia.  The company is
