Hello Bob,
The Institute of Industrial Technology is located in Newark, OH. About 40 miles east of Columbus. IIT opened its doors to the public June 1996 and is currently undergoing its 2nd phase of expansion/development. The Institute is dedicated to the preservation/interpretation of just Licking County's industrial heritage and current technology/science employed by its local industries. Unfortunately, while the printing industry runs hand-in-hand with other industries, there will not be much in the way of exhibits currently or in forthcoming exhibits. The county's industry was primarily based on transportation (the B&O R.R.), glass (this is where fiber-glass was invented and originally produced) and other manufacturing (at one time the county was the largest producer of stoves, lawnmowers, truck axels, and golf clubs in the country.
There are individuals in the county who would like us to expand on the printing industry, but space and weight considerations (both in our collections space and exhibit gallerys) are the limiting factor. Give me your mailing address and I will send some literature and keep you posted on developments
