in response to Robert Baron's query about places to visit while in the
Northeast...... do not pass up the properties administrated by SPNEA, The
Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities!!!!
The historic house museums operated by SPNEA in New England number
twenty-three and are in every New England state except Vermont.
Generally speaking, the properties are open Wednesdays through Sundays
during high season (Ju.-Oct.).
Properties include Bulfinch's Harrison Gray Otis House in Boston, the
Walter Gropius House and Codman House in Lincoln, the fabulous Beauport
(Sleeper McCann House) in Gloucester... and the list goes on....Guidebooks
of N.England should include listings for all of SPNEA's
properties, but if you have questions, phone 617-227-3956.
