Manager for School and
Community Programs
The Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, invites
applications for the full-time position of Manager for School and Community
Programs.
We seek applicants with strong managerial skills and creativity to ensure
innovative education programming responsive to Education Reform and
community issues. This position manages all aspects of the School and
Community Programs Division which produces all of the Adler's programs for
teachers, students, parents/caregivers involving the schools and higher
education as well as community organizations. Responsibilities include
staff supervision; program planning, development and delivery, especially
with technology-driven applications; organizes and oversees program
evaluation; budget development and oversight; grant development and project
management; audience development and marketing/PR strategies.
The Adler is moving forward in major new program directions in association
with a $40M expansion program that will bring exciting interactive exhibits
and education programming to the Chicago community as well as regionally,
nationally and internationally across the Internet and other communications
technologies. The individual for this position must have excellent
interpersonal skills in working collaboratively within the institution with
staff in other departments as well as outside the institution with other
museums, community organizations and the overall academic community.
An M.A. in education, museum and/or science education or related fields is
required with a minimum of five years experience working in museums and/or
a similar institution in an informal setting; staff and project management.
Experience in a science museum and/or Planetarium; program development
integrating communications technologies, inquiry-based teaching and
learning; and grant development are high preferred. Multi-lingual ability
a plus.
Manager for
Visitor Programs
The Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, invites applications
for the full-time position of Manager for Visitor Programs.
We seek applicants with strong managerial skills and creativity to create
innovative exhibit-based programs for museum visitors of all ages and
backgrounds. This position manages all aspects of the Visitor Programs
Division which produces the Adler's fee-based programs, education-related
special events and informal programs in the museum galleries for groups and
individual visitors, volunteer training and supervision, as well as
collaborative activities with other Museum Campus institutions.
The Adler is moving forward in major new program directions in association
with a $40M expansion program that will bring exciting interactive exhibits
and education programming to the Chicago community as well as regionally,
nationally and internationally across the Internet and other communications
technologies. The individual for this position must have excellent
