The High Desert Museum seeks a qualified individual
who is energetic, highly organized, creative, has a positive
attitude, great team spirit, excellent communication skills, and who
desires and is able to perform all functions of basic fabrication,
installation and mainenance of exhibits in a dynamic museum.
Qualifications include:
--BA in museum studies, anthropology, U.S. history, art history,
natural history, or a related field.
--Proven basic carpentry skills; ability to use power tools and work
with all a variety of construction tools and materials.
--Experience with museum installation a plus.
--Literacy in computer software programs related to position, and
willinginess to work flexible hours and days.
Specific Responsibilities:
--Daily maintenance of exhibits
--Assists in general exhibit fabrication including basic
design/carpentry; mounting interpretive materials, and all aspects of
installation.
--Prepares and monitors exhibit mainenance schedules and repair
records.
--Performs elementary conservation on objects as necessary for
exhbition.
--Assists in transportation and installation of museum's traveling
exhibits.
--Acts as exhibits liaison with maintenance department.
--Maintains and inventories tools and fabrication supplies.
